Mary Stuart
the Queen of Scots laid claim to the English crown. After fleeing to England, she was imprisoned by Elizabeth I for 19 years and finally beheaded in 1587.
Elizabeth I
was considered a "bastard" on the English throne. The reign of the Virgin Queen went down in history as the Elizabethan era.
Mary Stuart and Elizabeth I meet again and again:
As queens striving for the same crown in the 16th century. As women of the 21st century who face each other as rivals. A power struggle that continues into the present day.
Can rivals become companions?
Supported by the City of Salzburg, the State of Salzburg, Kunsthilfe Salzburg, ISA and Salzburger Sparkasse.
